Southern California Badminton Association (SCBA)
The SCBA (Southern California Badminton Association) is a non-profit organization founded
in 1939, with
the objective of promoting badminton and connecting badminton players in the So-Cal area:
- Promote badminton in Southern California.
- Organize, develop and support badminton clubs.
- Publish badminton news and “Places to Play Badminton”.
- Promote and support badminton tournaments.
- Support programs for Junior Development.
- Develop quality Line Judges and Umpires.
The SCBA also lends assistance to special projects and establish and administer merit awards, but working
as a line of communication between players, clubs and schools is its most important function.
The SCBA maintains a website as well as a
Facebook page. In
addition the SCBA has served as a de-facto USAB region
5 (and more currently region 6)
representative.

Freeman Open was formed previous regional championships were
incorporated into its history. Many (Most?) "Pacific Southwest
Championships" tournaments were part of this.
